#862158 The "it still has some JUN parts!" S15

Posted by ONETEN on 27 November 2014 - 12:30 PM

Josh from galvsport told you that a leaking radiator has caused you to melt 2 spark plugs?

Taking him out of the equation, how do you yourself suppose that is possible?
If cooling system failure could melt a metal object located at the center of the combustion chamber, Would you expect other parts of the engine to start melting as well?
How do you suppose a spark plug holds up in an air cooled engine without melting?

Stop yoloing and start being more careful dude, you've almost destroyed this engine twice now, and may be no coming back from this one. It's painful to watch. Get things done properly and cover all your bases or this will not be the last time you will be spending 4K on a repair bill.

    Well, it's finally happened! 471.8RWHP @ 22psi on E85.

    PJ8fQl0.jpg

Full tune by Hyperdrive. Big thanks to Hayden for getting it here (and the ensuing issues that followed even to get it to Hyperdrive). I think it's true that it has been one massive headache. Updates have been here and there. Lots of little changes here and there too and some crazy hard work and persistence by Hayden.

Pretty big list of people helped to even get it to this stage: Hayden (tuning, wiring and mechanics), Hyperdrive (tuning), Galvsport (mechanics for RaceWars), Clint (fabrication, mechanics), Ozz (head work), Kev (overall mechanic), Jezz (storage and mechanics) and a bunch of others that helped me take the engine out and swap it over. Dinha and others for their constant "motivation" to complete the "volt_bite" 180 haha.

Next step is to get the car "road worthy". Also needs a bit of Luke's magical touch to refine the car that much more.

Interior needs to be refitted. Half of it is missing at the moment including the passenger seat, door trims, boot trimming.

Externally, side skirts need to be fixed, rear fenders need to be cut further, front bar fit, indicators fitted and wired, rear lower type x garnish needs to be sourced (went missing..), needs side mirrors, polished and a few other things.

Gave it a bit of stick last night too, hmm fun times so can't wait till it looks more legal! I believe Hayden has some videos of it on the dyno.

#861187 Help, I broke my box.. Replacement options?

Posted by ONETEN on 23 October 2014 - 05:00 PM

I am going to buy all of the Z33 gearbox's in the world, I will sell them to man and child alike, the farther my gearbox empire reaches, the cheaper I will sell them.

    I will make it RAIN Z33 box's.

Amish men will suddenly have 6 speed horse carts.

Italian housewives will have the ability to gear down their pasta rollers.
Every child in ethopia will have a Z33 gearbox to sleep next to and night. Even hermit crabs will need to increase their protein intake to bulk up enough to drag their new Z33 geabox-house around.

Every man, woman, child.... All except one.

The one that will NEVER own a Z33 gearbox.

The one that will NEVER be given one.

    His name is munt.

    #857249 Hills Run

Posted by Sir Crumz: of Burnout on 14 July 2014 - 08:02 AM

With unaffiliated up in the air I figured Id post here.

Got a hankering for some spankering of my SR, so thought I'd run an old school hills event.

    Open to SWA members.
Want to do it on a wet night, this fri or sat. Will make that decision when I get home and check the forecast. If both are dry then its a dry run, whatevs.

More info later, let us know if keen.

Righto, so now I actually have some time...

We'll run with Friday night as Bounce is on Saturday.

Meet: Caltex (I think) Servo Cnr Abernethy and Grogan Rd

    Time: 2020 Depart 2100 SHARP

No maps, will discuss each route at each stop.

One passenger, don't bring a car full of frackwits.

Full tank, good rubber, UHF if you got it, GoPros.

Short stops, long drives, no bullsheet.

This will run dry or wet unless it's particularly pissing down (in which case may go for a metropolitan run). Drive at YOUR limits and fall into place accordingly (slow cars to the back).

No, your mates mates dogs breeder can't come. SWA only.

    #863938 EOI: Track Day

And some broken rocker arms just means an inefficient drive home

    #863937 EOI: Track Day

Posted by Sir Crumz: of Burnout on 11 February 2015 - 01:57 PM

Zee, I don't even need to post. You know I'm in.

For those that are worried, I recently did the D1WA prac day on their back track. I haven't been out for a long time and I haven't done a "drift" event in over 3 years.
Firstly, the D1WA events are the best run events I've EVER attended. The whole day was amazing and a credit to the boys who do it.

    As for our own day...
IF we need the cams and club membership it can make the first event a bit exxy, I can understand that. BUT if the first event is enjoyed by all, there will be more and that first payment becomes an investment in more events. Outside of these extra costs, the collie backtrack can be the best value for money event out there.
Due to the track design and surface, you can get away with minimal tyres. A couple of second handies or 2 sets of newies would probly get most guys here out all day and home at the end.
Track layout, there is some degree of danger with the tyre walls, however, if you are driving to your limits and take a line suited to a newer driver (IE don't go deep and try to rub the wall) then you shouldn't have a problem. Outside of the tyre walls the rest of the track has pretty good run off that might leave a scratch or two, but shouldn't give any real problems. They've removed the block curbing that was there (and thank frack they did otherwise my car wouldn't be driving atm!)
For those that don't/won't drift... This isn't really a time attack style course. It's pretty well a large triangle consisting of three corners.... That said, if you want to go kick the arse out and learn some new driving tricks, it would be great.

Now after selling it to you, some warning. It is Collie. It is 2.5 hours from Perth and if you DO break something, you may be in trouble. There should always be some one there with a trialer and some plate swapping and what not will generally make everything ok, but don't be fooled. It can go bad. Mechanical issues generally won't stop you from getting home. A stripped second gear means you now have a 4 speed box. A busted pivot ball means you're driving a dog box. Overheating means you gotta stop every 30 mins for 10 mins. Your turbo falling off means a noisey, smelly drive home and sadly I've experienced more of them then I care to admit! But at the end of the day, you've had mad fun and you got a cool war story for your mates.

    So commit and come play.

#861153 Help, I broke my box.. Replacement options?

Posted by ONETEN on 22 October 2014 - 01:51 PM

Powertune don't make a kit, and haven't for a while. Alpha omega is the best one Ive seen but crack money, more than the box itself.

I honestly don't know why people waste time with Z32 or RB25 box any more, they are old and sheet. Most of them need a rebuild to feel any good and even then they are pretty long in the tooth.

You can buy a 6 speed CD001/5/6 350z gearbox new from Nissan for under 2k, and half that second hand, and they are a BEAST of a gearbox. I have seen one behind a 2JZ making over 1K HP. People in the states are swapping their Getrag's out for the CD00X box.

The crazy thing is, a CD00X box swap would probably still cost less than 2nd hand z32 + alpha omega kit.

    Start here: http://collinsadapte...pter-plate.html

And here is the full kit, so you pretty much just need a box: http://collinsadapte...-australia.html

$760 USD including shipping, enough said.

    #854142 Who's Silvia? Why is she 15?

Posted by Roleystoner on 25 April 2014 - 11:33 AM

So this happened last night! (Josh Lawrie, JT Towing people!)
    20140424_201957.jpg?m=1398394507

Returned from Crazy Lukes Speed Shop.

Flash back from the past (well, a few posts up)...

    2013-12-17%2011_20_49.jpg?m=1397382477

Battery tray was removed, got a bit hacked up (my fault):

    2013-12-04%2013_19_36.jpg?m=1398394488

Luke half way through cleaning it up for me:

    2013-12-23%2015_13_41.jpg?m=1398394490

The passenger side had also been hacked up by one of the previous owners, this is where the hot-side piping went through, definitely was not happy with this:

    2013-12-04%2013_23_14.jpg?m=1398394488

So I decided to have the same piping route, however with a perfect seal to the chassis. Agreed with Luke on welding a 2.5" small length of pipe to some plate and welding the plate to cover the hole, the pipe petrudes equally on either side where 90 degree silicone elbows will slip on:

    2013-12-23%2015_13_34.jpg?m=1398394488

    Nearly there:

    2013-12-23%2015_13_49.jpg?m=1398396545

Then it was time for paint! Tried for Luke to match the satin-bronze colour of the XD9's, but that couldn't really happen as the wheels are anodised. Ended up picking a bronze SAAB colour code and applied a matte finish, close enough to the XD9's (might consider respraying the XD9's to be an exact match).

    20140425_103009.jpg?m=1398394518

Now check this out, compare these to the old photos to really appreciate the difference!

    20140425_104612.jpg?m=1398394535

    20140425_104639.jpg?m=1398394546

    Love it :)

Oh, rocker cover shaved and also paint-matched with the same colour code, looks schmick!

    20140425_111558.jpg?m=1398395947

Again, thanks to Mr Pomlette for the work. I was putting him under the pump in the end to get the car back. The main delays weren't in what you see here, but instead with the Frankenstein creation (180 front) you'll be seeing next. The fenders are a metal cut-and-shut and Luke has put a lot of time in to getting them perfect and the alignment of the panels sweet. Appreciate his work! frack doing that myself haha.

Yea he's was done really well and properly in 2pak, I'm referring more to the loom.

Your fuse box Will be fine. It's the conduit around the loom that will flake, and then that becomes tacky.

Insatiable after respray replace conduit so the loom stays black and looks clean, not like you just got crazy with a spray can.

Either way, it's not my car, and I can't really comment as I'd probably do what your doing because I'm cheap and dumb, Yolo too hard and have too much sweg to regert my mistakes.

Oh sheet, thanks man it was my pleasure you know that. You help out a lot of ppl with their busted sr's including me, it's only fair. Also I'm glad you just decided to show that poor thing some love in the looks department.

It was a mad rush towards the end with life sheet and work but we got there big thanks to Crumz for his patience two week job blew out to five. The colour is an awesome choice. For anyone who has seen the car already and tripped over a couple of those runs sorry I'm getting on to them now haha.
Thanks for the last post disclaimer Crumz i know you did that for me.

For the beaters and painter reading this yes I did prime the entire car I just then didn't send the pics to Crumz and have I only just realized... He has them now, my bad.

The whole process went really well and pretty much how Crumz said couple of difficult points that bonnet being one, in hindsight maybe we should of gotten a new one but it's done now and yes that roof dent was probably from knowing you sitting on it haha.... Do it again I kill you!!!

Anyone wanting jobs done if any... I really only do this for family and mates but I can have a look at the job and if I can/want to do it we'll go from their.
