So, i accidentally put a tiny hole in my air condition condenser, all the gas leaked out and i'm short on $$ to purchase a second hand one and been convinced it doesnt take much to fix it, all i need is someone to weld it shut and pressure test it.

Do you recommend any one or is there no hope for it.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

IMO its not worth fixing unless you know anyone that is good at braising. Because if its not braised properly you wont know till you have evacuated the system and re charge with gas which depending on who you know and where you go. Just try and find a second hand one, sure there is heaps of people who have removed them

r12? Not in a 13.

We had a dude put a screwdriver through one on site on a lux. Rather than pull it off the road for 3 weeks, he managed to just coat it with araldite.
As far as I'm aware it's still holding gas. Didn't even pull the condensor out.

IMHO you're probably better off getting a cheap second hand condensor. Can be had for free if you look around a bit.

When I took my 13 in to get regassed, they pulled the old gas out, flushed it completely, then refilled it with R134a. Cost me around 250 bucks total. Now with the RB in it, I'm ending up having to get some new lines made up to suit, then flushing, then regassing. Whole process should be sub 400 bucks. And if you're gonna be a REAL cheapskate, fill your system with propane. I sheet you not it works. Thats from a HVAC specialist. R134a is prefered but propane works just as good

What about just waiting till you have the cash? It's not that hot anyway.
