so it appears that everyone is cranky and so they should be over the new laws regarding “hoons” ( everything we do wrong in a car nowadays gets called hooning ) so there has been a meeting setup to discuss what this is all about ….

“WA’S worst hoons will have their cars taken off them for good on their first strike under tough new penalties promised by Premier Colin Barnett if his Government is re-elected.”

to get involved in this meeting visit this facebook link

the meeting is planned to discuss the campain “the grunt files” are running to squash the hoon name , check them out on facebook.

Because this might a weak election stunt and even if labour wins remember they are the one's who orginally brought the hoon laws in and by whats happening in QLD and VIC it's only a matter of time before it happens here.

I will be attending

hey guys,

Are the s13 ca and sr crossmembers the same?, is the difference just in the engine mounts ???

Also can someone post up a pic of a stripped s13 and r32 crossmember got one here i suspect is r32 not too sure though.

Or if anyone can tell me the visual differences between s13 and r32.

Cheers guys

hey guys,

Ok so i have just finished putting in a second hand os giken twin plate clutch, chromoly lightwieght flywheel and thrust bearing.

First up upon cranking the engine over it makes this "chink-chink-chink" metal on metal sound but once its fired up is gone if clutch pedal is not pressed in upon start otherwise its the noise below, all i can put this down to is the flywheel hitting the starter but the flywheel is chromoly. but i have never had one before so i was just wondering is that it????

That dosent really bother me if thats it but in conjunction with the second part of the clutch problem.... It makes this whinging sound close to what the start up sound sounds like and on shuting down the engine if clutch pedal is pressed in it slows down to almost a clunking then a bearing whine... i know wot ur thinking thrust bearing and thats all i can think of and they dont usually bother me, just change at next clutch but this is louder and sounds different to most thrust bearings i have heard.

Clutch is all alligned perfectly and all bolts done up and loctited, clutch setup look good for second hand 70% meat no heat marks then usual.

Car drives great even better then before (twin plate love) apart from this noise and the vibration that ill get to.

Could it be the thrust bearing or could it be i have stuffed up the arrangement of the discs and plates in the clutch itself the discs them selves are pretty self explantory only go in oneway otherwise they hit each other, but the centre plate and ring thing that goes in before the pressure plates had notches to slide in but there were more notches then needed so i just rotated the plate and ring till they slide in thinking that was their notches stupid me didnt check if they were sitting loose???? or could it be something else

Second up is the vibration, wasnt there before clutch install. Anywhere past 110kph and strongest at 125-130kph it makes this very stronge vibration.

Its more violent on acceleration or slowly gaining speed then deceleration, but only at that speed no where else no matter what revs or load.

All i can think of is that we lowered the k-frame about an inch and a half to get the box on but in went back up on close enough to its old marks.

Could that be the problem or is it also clutch related ?????

All help will be greatly appreciated as i have tried everything bar taking the box back off which i dont really want to do and now are all out ideas and knowledge and dont want to drive the car till i have some idea on wot is goin on and i havent driven it since powercruise last year..... desperate to drive her again.

Video taken under the gearbox, i first start the car and turn it off without touching the clutch then i start it again with the clutch pedal preesed down then release it and press it in again a few times finally turning off the car with the clutch pedal pressed in.

You can definatly hear a difference on each start up and shut down you can also hear a "chink" when i press the pedal down before i start the car again either thats the thrust bearing stop or its the middle plate in the clucth clinking cause its loose but then gets pressure put on it as i push on the clutch pedal or its the starter meching with the flywheel just before it starts to crank ova the engine not too sure as i have never been that close to the box before hearing this video..... or its something else i havent thought of.
