Guys I have a stereo for sale, it's come out of the car which I have recently bought. The stereo is only 2-3 months old, I know this because I installed it for the previous owner before I bought the car off her.

It's all entry level stuff.

Pioneer DEH-2250 MP3 Player
Clarion 6.5" Splits
Clarion 12" sub in sealed box
Clarion Mono block amp rated at 400 watts

Chasing $500 for the lot

PM for pics and more info.

Cheers

Everyone was aksing what I was buying after the Silvia and everyone laughed when I said the Micra (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) but it's still a cool little daily driver. Corners awesome and uses bugger all petrol. I was jokingly considering going a March Super S 1ltr turbo engine for it but I'd rather have at least one insurance friendly car in my stable.

Attached is also pic of my other new baby... Still waiting for it to arrive...

Yep so all of my cars are white... I'm pretty boring that way ahaha

You may have thought the R34 is a GTR at first glance... The R34 is Garage East Bear's ex demo GTT, it's dressed in a full East Bear GTR style kit inc carbon bonnet and undertray. The GTR wheels help finish the look. Mod wise this car is mechanically stock, but I have a nice assortment of bolt ons ready to go so the car doesn't just look the part.

Very big thanks to Jeff at C-Red for both of my new rides!!

Now I’m selling the car I can safely say that this 8 year project is finally coming to an end, but to recap a bit here is the story I wrote for PAS ’04 along with some pics.

ANGRY V2.0

[ANGRY13] is a never ending project so it seems, it’s the end result of a long build on the car of my dreams, writing that dream off and then a record breaking build on a second car just so I could enter a car show!

Having spent a lot of time and money modifying a ’79 Holden Gemini I felt it was time to go for something a little newer… and with Air con. In late '99, after months of research and scouring the car yards, I handed over a bank cheque for $13,000 to a dealer and drove home in my dream ride! A manual 1992 Nissan Silvia Q’s.

The car already had a sweet suspension set-up, HKS pod filter and 2.25” exhaust system which kept me entertained for a while. But with a habit of wanting to keep up with the Jones’ I saw myself modifying the car to make it faster. I scoured the Internet for different ideas and by 2000 I stumbled across the Perths13 yahoo group e-mail list.

This e-mail list proved to be the best thing I ever joined! Eventually a small group of us had formed a little car club, going by the name SilviaWA.

With a 134db pumping stereo, quality suspension and some breathing mods to liven the SR20DE up, everything in my books was sweet… Until my good mate Dangerous Dave offered to let me drive his 180sx. After that I caught the turbo bug and bad, I couldn’t let go of the idea of going turbo so in 2001 the S13 was taken to a local workshop for an SR20DET transplant.

Over the course of 2002 the usual list of bolt on accessories were added. Stock DE brakes are miserable at best to pull you up so a set of S14 front four piston callipers and rotors were added to help pull the car up better and for
visual appeal a set of Nismo side skirts and 17” x 7.5” LWT rims were added. Back in those days bolt on “china kits” didn’t exist so we had to use our imagination! I’d gone through two different custom FMIC arrangements, the first one using the factory piping and a cooler from a 7MGTE Supra engine. The second one being made from a cut down Mac truck core with custom end tanks and pipe work done by Wayne Embleton at Embleton Engineering. The 3” turbo back exhaust was made up by Exhaust Torque and good old Quick Fit Exhausts in Morley. Coupled with a VN V8 Commodore fuel pump, GFB Mach 1 BOV and an original Apexi AFC, at the PAS Western Salon, the car produced a dyno result a whopping 170rwhp at 16psi. Yeah even in those days I’d run as much boost as I possibly could!

By 2003 boredom managed to set in yet again, and because I thought my stock turbo was on its way out I upgraded to a Garret 400hp rated GT2535 turbo. 210rwhp at 10psi was a promising result. But leaning out wasn’t very good… By mid year the backyard mechanics were in full swing and we added a Bosche 040 fuel pump, some SARD 550cc injectors, a Z32 afm and a bikirom with a base map to try and sole the fuel issue and gain some more grunt. Well the fuel issue now became reversed, I adopted the nick name ‘The Fuel Barron’ after the car pumped out (un-tuned) 240rwhp at 18psi with an AFR of 10.2:1.

Before the 2003 PAS Western Salon the Board was tuned by Glen ‘Lumpy’ Campbell and the result was a much happier 250rwhp at 1 bar. I should say at this point I had finally decided to remove the single pegger and I got myself an awesome R200 VLSD.

Well I thought it was happier... Thanks tp some miscommunication from a workshop who shall remain nameless. At Motorvation 2004 my car pulled a dyno result of 280rwhp @ 17psi while pinging its bollocks off. At PAS ’04 the car again produced some decent numbers. I’ll never forget that day on the dyno. There I am standing with the car while it has it’s first dyno run, 260rwhp with a little ping, I pull an allen key out of my pocket to adjust the GFB bleed valve and I hear a multitude voices from the grand stand “No Woody”. Matty P is waving his hands yelling to leave it be. Did I listen? No. 269rwhp with more ping. One month later the combination of a tired engine and a little too much detonation encourage piston number 3 melt itself into the block while I was ‘spiritedly’ driving on the SilviaWA April club cruise.

Alas it was re-build time.

After some careful thought and consideration the job engine re-build was left in the capable hands of the lad’s at C-Red tuning with Wayne from Embleton Engineering retained to handle all of the piping, cooling, breathing and general pretty things.

I managed to score myself a great deal where I worked off my labour by spending my Saturday’s cleaning the workshop and helping out with little things. This also gave me the opportunity to continue working on my car but with the bonus of having professional help!

The bottom end was fully blueprinted, balanced and race-prepped. The standard pistons and rods were replaced with the proven combination of Aries Forged pistons, Eagle Rods and ARP rod bolts. The factory head gasket was ditched in favour of an HKS 1.2mm metal gasket and the head secured onto the bottom end with ARP head studs. The head was pretty much left stock, but we reconditioned it and cleaned it up a bit. The motor retained the GT25355 but we bolted it onto a stainless manifold, and fed fresh air via a new K&N air filter with custom stainless steel inlet pipe. With the HKS adjustable waste gate actuator set to a base level of 1.1bar, the HKS EVC 4 easily and accurately controlled boost to 1.3bar. Flowing through custom stainless piping, the air was now chilled by an RHK (original Hybrid copy) intercooler with excess air released in loud fashion by a Turbosmart Type 2 blow off valve. Additional to the intercooler piping, Embleton engineering also made up an oil catch can; radiator overflow bottle and coil pack cover, which were true works of art. The manual 5-speed gearbox remained standard but the clutch was upgraded to an RG 3-puk brass button clutch with a 2500 pound pressure plate, the flywheel was also lightened by a few kilos.

Funny thing happened while the engine was being built, I decided to remove some woeful graphics I had fitted to the car before PAS ’04 and in doing so I also managed to remove all of the paint that was down the side of the car. Bugger. So thanks to Jamie and my brother Damian from WA Motor Body Repairs the car was given a new and fresh look! The nismo skirts were ditched in favour of some M-Sports items to complete the look and what was originally meant to be a touch up turned into a full re-spray in Audi jet black with a slight glitter clear coat. It looked amazing!

With the engine finished and back in the car it was sent to AJ at Speedworks for tuning. Using the factory ECU tuned via a Bikirom Board the car has produced a lazy 317ps at 1.3 bar boost on a rather conservative tune fuel and timing wise. During this time I had handed my license plates in and ordered the [ANGRY13] plates to go with the new look.

After 5 months of hard work the car looked beautiful and drove fantastic and I was gearing up for entering the 2004 Western Salon. With plans for just a few more light mods to be done… tragedy struck.

While cruising along with Joel on Walcott St one rainy night I decided to change lanes to overtake a car and with the newfound horsepower coupled with semi bald tyres, the wet roads were unforgiving. I lost control and steered us right into a power pole, knocking it out of the ground and writing the car off. Ironically one of the light mods I had planned to do prior to the accident was new tyres. Amazingly Joel and I were both completely fine... but my ego copped a battering.

Misery.

After spending close to five years putting so much lot of time, effort and money into my car, it was gone. The car was classed as a financial write off and that was it. Waiting for the insurance to be sorted was by far the worst 2 weeks of my life to date, but in the end I guess it couldn’t have worked out better.

Now having just turned 25 meant my excess was down to $150 and my policy included first dibs on Salvage rights. So with the car insured for $16,000 I was able to buy back my wreck and have $11,500 left over to do what I wanted. Instead of fixing the car Roy suggested we look for a suitable replacement, he said we could take as long as we needed. But PAS ’04 was just around the corner and I really wanted to enter.

So now I was faced with a dilemma. I had a modified wreck, a cheque for $11,500 and 5 weeks to build a show car for Western Salon. f##k me.

After scouring the papers and Internet I came across a pristine looking bog stock pearl white auto ’92 Silvia Q’s. After Roy gave the car his nod of approval I handed over $8,000 to the lady owner and drove it straight to C-Red to begin stripping it down.
The idea was to take everything from my wreck and fit it to the new car, but during the swap over process a few improvements were made. The M-Sports body kit was shipped back to WA Motor Body Repairs for Jamie to re-spray to match car’s factory Pearl White paint. As well as this all of the interior plastic trim and custom speaker pods were sprayed up in Silver. The unpleasant factory S13 seats were sent to the scrap pile. In their place was fitted a pair of R32 GTR seats for better comfort and support. To contrast the GTR seats the rest of the cars tweed interior was given to Paul at Classic Motor Trimmers in Morley re-done in sleek black velour.

Stereo wise a new Alpine CDA-9831 was added in to send quality signals to the Audison SRX-3 amp. The SRX-3 is a specialist 3 channel amp delivering a solid 75watts rms to the front Hertz 3 way splits and a 250watts rms to the Crossfire P1 subwoofer.

The boat spec standard suspension was quickly swapped out for my KYB Buzzsspec shocks and springs from the wreck. Also re-fitted to the car were the S14 brakes, re-painted in red to stand out a bit. The wheels no longer suited the white car so a set of Titanium Silver Buddy Club P1 wheels measuring 17x8 and 17x9 inches were shod with 235/40 Nexen tyres all round and slapped on. The engine, gearbox and clutch was swapped over ASAP and towed over to Embleton Engineering for Wayne to re-make the beautiful piping I had crushed. Wayne also added a few more cool additions.

The night before the Western Salon the body kit and some graphics were fitted and amazingly we had pulled it off, building a show ready car within 5 weeks of purchase. ‘V2.0’ looked beautiful and I got nothing but positive comments about it.

I had built a brilliant ride and I was finally happy. The project was finished… for a while anyway.

This is more a pointless story then anything but:

I pulled my turbo off so I could change the exhaust housings over and when I remove the cover what do I find? My exhaust wheel had chunks taken off every blade!

What’s happened is a tiny fragment of metal (eg a spark plug tip or a welding dag in the manifold) has flown through the turbo and chipped the wheel on the way out through the exhaust. I don't actually know what it is yet but hopefully Josh/Mark can diagnose that for me after.

I’m angry because this will cost me $600 to fix. But I’m happy because this situation has helped me diagnose what happened to my car at Motorvation.

1) My car was tuned to make 371rwhp at 21psi originally.
2) When on the dyno at Motorvation the car only produced 299rwhp. (Which at the time the dyno operator instantly told me it was because I have a rom and they can't hold tunes and I needed to get a haltech).
3) The car was re-tuned and this time made 363rwhp but needed 25psi to do it.

So I’m guessing what happened is the car was tuned and all was sweet. While on the super cruise that afternoon something flew through the manifold and damaged my exhaust housing and damaged the turbo. This causes the turbo to totally lose its efficiency and the flow characteristics change dramatically. Afterwards the car was re-tuned and the new tune compensated for turbo.

Now I’m happy because with bigger cams and a good sized exhaust housing I should be making a much better power curve than before.

I thought this was interesting because normally when someone posts that their car feel sluggish and has less power we all assume it's a vacuum leak or fuel pump issue. Things are never what they seem!!

Where do people go for the best deals on brake rotors?

I would like to get some slotted rotors to suit an S14 200SX but the best price I've seen so far is $400 or so (IMG:http://www.silviawa.com/__forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
