Cars are a sensory experience, body kits, any form of loud exhaust, paint jobs, stereo's... all these things are part of the experience. If u just wanna go fast buy a motorbike, cops are less likely to chase them too. Course the funny thing is, I'm reknowned for building ugly cars, they need a clean, back seat full of sheet, cobbled together parts etc. Body kits are few and far between, and I still dont get the obsessing over rims. Experimenting with parts and true speed are my joys... but I do miss the sound of an N/A after switching to a turbo, older ones with a lumpy idle with a farting

I suppose a skid plate wouldnt be that hard to make, just bash some alu plate into shape and bolt it in, give the sump some extra protection too... just leave is so u can get into the plug from behind and she'd be apples

Not quite sure what ya mean by rev out slower, how fast they come onto boost? Or their peak efficiency is at a lower rpm? With the peak efficiency of small turbines being lower I've heard this arguement before, but I'm not sure, even with the efficiency being lower a larger turbo with double the amount of exhaust gas entering it should be better (lol first day of uni holidays, refuse to use vocabulary). It would have around half the rotational inertia to overcome (at 100000rpm even tiny little blades take a lot of effort to slow down n speed up)... I have been pondering on this, I'll pro

Tho i must say, one of the best things about the N/A's is the exhaust note when u get a good system in there, I miss a burble, turbo's just drone.
  5. As long as the paint hasnt deteriorated badly then yer its a lot cheaper. If its got cracks or orange peel etc then theres just as much labou making sure its got a good surface to paint onto tho.

There are the new filters that have the magnetic liners, they would probably go above and beyond what the sump plugs are capable of. That or maybe the sump drains could be magnetised... unsure of what they are made of.
  7. That sounds like a job for a trunk monkey

I was thinking about one of those on mine, they look bloody handy for cars that need changes as often as ours, but one hanging off the sump would be the lowest part of the car... kinda scares the sheet outa me thinking what would happen if it caught on something at speed.

if ur planning on going turbo later anyways, ud be wasting the money having the FC tuned for an N/A. Only if ur planning on staying N/A and spending big money to tune it would the setup be worth it. Focus on the weak spot of the silvia's and spend money on the chasis, leave the power alone untill you go all the way with a snail. Not that I'm saying dont tune N/A's, but if u going to switch to forced induction anyway, all the N/A work will be thrown out the window.

Spent two days on the front driveway with my car up on a set of jacks dropping the bellhousing after the damn balance point snapped off. Rang up Nissan, and on the advice of an engineer rang all over town seeing if there was a thicker balance point bolt thing as the stock size would simply snap again because of the spring rate i use. After everyone told me they only came in one size I eventually just bought that one, and decided to have it last as long as it would and replace them when they snap. So mate and I spend another day swearing bleeding and generally loosing our minds before we go
  11. /\ I've heard of that one for toilet training dogs, they dont like to urinate near their water supply or something, dunno if it works or not, my dog sheets from one end of the property to the other. Not near the fishpond tho so there might be something to it.
  12. there are training sprays u can buy at pet shops for it, dont smell like cat pee, generally pretty inoffensive.
  13. If you want to carry on this dialouge feel free to PM me, the forum doesnt need to read this.
  14. God, I gotta say it, ur one of the smallest minded people I have ever encountered shaolin, and thats saying something. My particular favourite is the user ID u've chosen to represent urself with is a combination of the beliefs of number 2 on ur list and politics of number 8 on ur list. Ur belief and philosophy is based on again number 8, same as every other bandwagon jumper in the modern world... Ur like the angriest person to ever drive a car thats single most defining feature is that is came with a flower vase in the dash. Sorry for the interupt in the thread, but its like the purest form

Lol ur right, Toyota did use Twin's for the early supra's, I truly thought that they'd used sequentials on every model, however they did see the light with the latest model and switched over to sequential twins there. I found a chart whilst I was digging around (avoiding exam revision ) on a pair of turbo setups, tested on the same dyno. This is a pair of 2jz's, heres their (brief) specs Single Car 1997 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo Transmission 6-Speed Turbo System GReddy T88 Fuel System HKS, 720cc Injectors Max Boost 1.8 Bar Car Color Green Twin Car 1997 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo Tr
